Encino Real Estate
Encino Real Estate can be spectacular. Most of Encino is a hilly district in the City of Los Angeles in an area of about ten square miles. Specifically, most of Encino real estate is located in the central portion of the southern San Fernando Valley and on the north slope of the Santa Monica Mountains. It derives its name from the Rancho Los Encinos – Ranch of the Evergreens. Encino real estate was once a parcel of land given to three Mission Indians by the Mexican government following its secularization of the California missions beginning in 1834. Rancho Encino was established in 1845.
The portion of the Los Angeles River that runs through most of Encino real estate is one of only two unpaved areas necessitated by the high water table. The original aquifer that fed the City of Los Angeles is the one located below Encino homes for sale.
This north slope of the Santa Monica Mountains with its sweeping valley and canyon views is home to many high-income professionals and celebrities. Encino real estate was coveted in the 1930’s by many of Hollywood’s elite. Clark Gable, John Wayne and W.C. Fields all called Encino real estate home at one time. Ventura Boulevard has more than fifty restaurants and many corporate headquarters that call this kind of Encino real estate home.
If you want to invest in Encino homes for sale, rest assured you have access to the pride of Encino – the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area. This two-thousand acre bit of Encino real estate listings is comprised of parks, a small lake, miles of roller blading and bike trails, six golf courses, a nature preserve, a world class Japanese garden center and an off leash dog park.
Another interesting piece of Encino real estate is the five-acre park located just north of Ventura Boulevard on Moorpark Street. It’s the Los Encinos State Historical Park and there are several historical buildings that can be toured. On this plot of Encino real estate originally many of the native valley Indians congregated around a natural spring that still exists there and once provided a year-round source of water for the ancient village of Siutcanga, home to the Tongva people for thousands of years. The water was reputed to be so sweet that animals would come from miles to drink from it.
So while most of Encino real estate listings are not inexpensive, it’s rich history and desirability draws people from all over the San Fernando Valley to enjoy the dining, shopping and recreation opportunities.
